I understand that “I know how to do algebra” based on day to day things, I use it a lot in all sorts of applications, but those applications don’t require me to solve an equation with numbers and letters by moving those numbers and letters around in some crazy fashion.

  1. jerkameleon said: Yeah, the second thing they should teach you is how the things you do every day fit into those equations. Of course, not everyone needs to be able to do formal algebra anyway.
